Cleveland County is conveniently located with access to several major Highways and Interstates in the rolling hills of the North Carolina Piedmont. The county and its seat, Shelby, are a short trip to both mountain and beaches. It is a gateway to those travelling highway 74 to the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. Shelby, the county seat, is a mere forty-five (45) minute drive to two large metropolitan areas of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Spartanburg, South Carolina.

 

History

Cleveland County is rich in history dating back to its establishment in 1841. It's historic, uptown court house (pictured above) is one of the most beautiful of its kind in the region.

 

Tourist and Business Climate

There are numerous shops and restaurants to visit in the uptown portion of Shelby, North Carolina. One can enjoy rich, old town beauty and architecture, browse through an art shop and catch a meal at an uptown cafe. Cleveland County is also home to numerous manufacturing plants and facilities, employing the majority of Cleveland County Residents.
